Distribution: This little snail is well known along the coast of Norway, as far North as Troms. It prefers sandy or muddy substrate. It is most common on depths between 15 and 200 meters. It can sometimes be seen drilling holes through the shell of mussels.

Characteristics: The diameter of the shell may reach 8 mm. It has six or seven whorls, where last is dominating the total diameter. The spire is flattened. The color is brown, beige or pale yellow. In contrast to the similar E. pulchella it has no dark band. The most distinct feature is the large foot, clearly visible outside the shell.
