Distribution: C. casina can be found in coarse sand or gravel on any diveable depth, in southern parts of Norway.

Characteristics: This bivalve of equal valves has a swollen appearance. The coarse, concentric ridges on the outer surface of both shells are characteristic. The similar and more common, banded carpet shell has more numerous and finer ridges. C. casina comes in shades from dirty white to brown. The shell length may reach 5 cm.
