Distribution: Found along the Norwegian coast as far north as Troms, rarely deeper than 25 meters.

Characteristics: The individual on the picture to the left has the typical juvenile, red color. When they grow older the color turns green or brown. The C. septemvalvis can be identified by the white ribbons in each corner of the shell. Older individuals get more ribbons until they frame the entire shell. It can grow to a length of 3 cm.
