Distribution: The Iceland scallop is most common north of Trøndelag. The Iceland scallop prefers current exposed locations with hard sand or gravel. It is most frequent on depths between 10 and 100 meters.

Characteristics: It can reach a diameter of 11 cm, but those I have seen have never been more than a few centimeters. It has a large number of fine ridges radiating from the dorsal margin. The color is usually brown, red, pink or orange. The two shells are approximately of the same size.
