The white tortoiseshell limpet is also known as Acmaea virginea.

Distribution: This limpet prefers smooth rocks where it feeds on red algae. It has been reported from the tidal zone and as deep as 100 meters. It is common along the entire Norwegian coast.

Characteristics: It is similar to the T. testudinalis, but even smaller, not exceeding a diameter of 15 mm and a height of 6 mm. The base color is white. Purple or pink bands along the edge of the shell is common.
