Distribution: D. luteocincta is reported as far north as Trøndelag. It is often found on rocky locations covered by a layer of mud or fine sand. It feeds on bryozoans or moss animals.
Characteristics: This small animal (maximum 11 mm) can hardly be confused with any other species. The distinct yellow border on its dorsal side is easily recognized. Normally there are red or brown blotches on the mantle. The short, pointed cerata are translucent white.
