Distribution: Registered from Oslo to Troms. It is most frequent just below the tidal zone, where it feeds on various bryozoans. Registrations have been made as deep as 250 meters.

Characteristics: The tubercles of the O. muricata are almost spherical, in contrast to the pointed tubercles of the similar Adalaria proxima. The body length does not exceed 2 cm. The color is usually translucent white or pale yellow.
