Distribution: Common along the Norwegian coast, as far north as Lofoten. It prefers soft substrate from the tidal zone and down to a depth of 200 meters.

Characteristics: Easily recognized by the 16-20 windings on the conical shaped shell. Three distinct ridges can be seen on each winding. The shell can reach a length of 6 cm. The color is grey or brown.
