Distribution: The spotted wolffish has a more northern distribution than the more common grey wolffish. It prefers muddy or sandy substrate. You will normally have to go deeper than 25 meter to encounter it.

Characteristics: The spotted wolffish has a light grey color base with dark brown blotches. It cannot be mistaken for any of the other wolffishes. Like the other wolffishes, it has a single dorsal fin running along the entire body length. There have been registrations of spotted wolffish reaching 190 cm and 25 kg.
