Distribution: The rabbit fish (also known as rat fish) is registered along the entire Norwegian coast. It is very common on depths ranging from 50 to 1000 meters. In the fjords it can be seen by divers as it migrate vertically up to 10-15 meters during the nights. It is often encountered resting on muddy or sandy substrate in not too steep slopes.
Characteristics: The rounded nose and the long whip-like tail give this fish a characteristic look. The first out of two distinct dorsal fins has a stout spine, connected to a gland of poison. Keep clear! It can grow to a weight of 2,5 kg and a length of 1.5 meters, including the tail.
