Distribution: The haddock is common along the entire Norwegian coast. It usually lives on depths between 40 and 300 meters, but can be seen at 15-20 meters after dark. It feeds mainly on small, bottom-living organisms on sandy or muddy bottoms.

Characteristics: The haddock is easily recognized by the dark spot just below the first dorsal fin. The short and rounded nose, the big eyes and pointed shape of the first dorsal fin make a characteristic profile. The color is grey with brown spots. The dark lateral line is clearly visible.
