Distribution: The lemon sole lives on all depths down to 250 meters. Divers usually meet the smallest individuals which seem to prefer shallow water. It is common along the entire Norwegian coast.

Characteristics: The lemon sole is actually not a sole, but a right eyed flounder. It comes in a large variety of colors, depending on the surroundings. It is capable of changing colors within seconds, if necessary. The coloration may be similar to the left eyed topknots. Adults may reach a body length of 70 cm.

The lemon sole is often host for the leech Calliobdella nodulifera, sucking fluid from its eye.
