Distribution: This rather large amphipod is common along the entire coast of Norway. It is usually found on algae or among rocks.

Characteristics: In the Northern parts of Norway it can reach a body length of more than 4 cm. Further south it is usually smaller, but this is still one of the larger amphipods. The color is red or orange. On the back it is has a very pronounced keel.
