The isopods have developed a wide range of different shapes. A common feature to most of them is that most of the seven pairs of legs have the same form and purpose. Many isopods have a wide, somewhat flattened body, in contrast to the amphipods. There are hundreds of different species along the Norwegian coast. Some species live in sweet water, some even on dry land. Some are parasites, eating holes in the hull of your wooden boat.
