Distribution: P. pubescens can be found along the entire coast of Norway. It is usually found deeper than many of the other Paguridae, 30 meters or deeper.

Characteristics: P. pubescens has significantly more hair on its legs than the common hermit crab. The right claw is larger than the left, and three times the length of the body (carapace).
