Distribution: You may find the Balanus crenatus anywhere along the Norwegian coast, from the tidal zone and down to depths of 100 meters.

Characteristics: It is easily recognized by the bright white color. The diameter rarely exceeds 2 cm and the height 4 cm. The shape is conical or almost cylindrical in crowded populations. The barnacle is unable to close the lids (carina) entirely, due to the slightly concave profile towards the tip.
