The class Semaeostomaeida includes the species commonly known as jellyfish. The two most frequent species in Norwegian waters are the Moon Jelly and the Lions Mane Jellyfish.

They swim around not far below the surface with pulsating movements. Most species feed on smaller particles or plankton, while others even catch fish. The diameter varies from 5 to 200 cm.
