Along the coast of Norway only three or four different species of spoon worms (echiurans) are registered. They usually live partially or entirely hidden in soft seabed. Echiurans may be distantly related to annelids, the segmented worms, but adult individuals lack segments. They live buried in mud or gravel or hide under rocks or in crevices. They are most frequent at great depths, but a few species are registered at diveable depths as well.
