Distribution: The sea gooseberry is well known among divers along the entire Norwegian coast. It is often seen close the surface. It is easiest to spot in the light of your flashlight during night dives. It appears most frequently during summer and fall, but can be seen the entire year.
Characteristics: Due to its modest size, the diameter does not exceed 2,5 cm, it is easily overlooked. As all other comb jellies of the Tentaculata class it has tentacles. Two long tentacles, reaching as much as 20 times the body diameter, can be retracted into pockets inside its body (see picture number two below).
