Characteristics:
G. macandrewii is a large, irregular shaped sponge. Apart from the shape it is very similar to the spherical sponge G. baretti. The color is usually white and brown.
Habitat:
It is most frequent deeper than 150 meters, but in some of the sheltered fjords it can be found already on 30-40 meters depth. It thrives on steep walls and other rocky substrate.
Distribution:
G. macandrewii is registered at the west coasts of the British Isles and Norway, as far north as Trøndelag.
