It is often found around the base of the Deeplet sea anemone, where it seeks shelter, protected by the tentacles. It is registered on a depth range from 20 to 1000 meters, but is most frequent deeper than 30 meters.

This is a species from the North Atlantic Ocean, registered in Murmansk, Norway, Iceland, the British Isles, but also in the north-western parts of the Atlantic.
