This small, transparent, shrimp does not exceed a body length of 28 mm. It comes in a wide range of colors, but red, brown, green or white is common. The pigment is often organized in transversal stripes on the body and legs. The rostrum (nose) is short with a single tip, in contrast to the similar E. occultus.

E. pusiolus is reported on all depths from just below the tidal zone and down to 500 meters. It seems to prefer hard bottoms.

This is a cosmopolitan, widespread in both the Pacific Ocean and Atlantic Ocean, on both hemispheres.
