Characteristics:

This nudibranch is characterized by the lamellated rhinophores. The first cluster of white tipped cerata is separated from the rest. The color of the gland varies, red or orange is common. Additionally a bluish tint is often seen on the head as well as the cerata. The long oral tentacles have white pigment near the tip. F. auriculata may grow to a body length of 4 cm.

Habitat:

Often seen on rocky locations, feeding on hydroids.

Distribution:

The Mediterranean and the East Atlantic Ocean, as far north as Norway.
